Positive Thinking - The essence of Healthy Living

It is often said that we are what is think. Thinking is the only attribute which separates human beings from other species. Thinking gives us the gift of choice and creation. It is only through choice  and creation, we are capable of growth and development, which is the ultimate objective of universal consciousness.

The Vedic wisdom calls humans as a blend of  spirit, mind and body. We are essentially spirits disguised in body and mind. The essential aim of human existence is to ensure the unity of spirit, body and mind and to co-create with the universal consciousness, with ease and harmony.

Our physical body is a field of molecules and it constantly interacts with the environment through a dynamic process of exchange. Our Mind is a thought generating engine. From the five physical senses, the mind receives information from the outer world and process the same into signals for body and knowledge for the spirit. The outcome of this processing of information by the mind is guided by our past experiences, beliefs, assumptions and values. If the thoughts are negative, the mind releases hormones and enzymes that slow down action, growth and vice versa.  Consistent negative thoughts results in blood pressure, heart pressure and other dis-ease which ultimately results in slowing of our lives.  Thought is the cause and experience is the effect.

In other words, the  human being is essentially  psychosomatic by nature and  our health is deeply influenced by our behavior, thoughts, emotions and social relationships. When are filled with happy and joyous thoughts, our mind trigger more happy thoughts thereby generating a virtuous cycle.

Therefore, in order to experience good health, we must cultivate the habit of generating good thoughts. In physical world, thoughts are linked to  our life style, our mental, sentimental, emotional and relational world, as well as our communication.

Fear is bad for our health. It manifests itself in the form of anger and promotes coronary diseases. Fear suppressed for a long time ends up producing diseases such as cancer. Apart from cancer and heart attacks, there are other illnesses brought on by fear: addictions, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, irritability, nervous breakdowns, memory loss, gastritis, back pains, baldness, diarrhea, sciatica, crying attacks, alcoholism, constipation, hypertension, cystitis (bladder inflammation), vomiting, palpitations, digestive disorders, ulcers and migraines.

With fear we are less creative and we get older more quickly. If we do not want to suffer illnesses (or want our illnesses to get worse) we should learn to manage and overcome fear.

Fear comes from two things. Losing of what we have in the present and fear of unknown is future.  This fear comes from lack to understanding of the eternal truth.  To loose fear and to live good  and healthy life, we must understand practice the following

1.     Self-belief and Detachment from outcome – As human beings, we have seeds of universal consciousness inside us. This  consciousness is omnipotent and omniscient. Once we start believing in our selves, in this universal consciousness, the universe takes care of everything. The abundance of great ideas and affluences starts flowing in our life. Faith in universal consciousness eliminates all fears. In the design of universe our job is to manifest great ideas and to leave the details to the wisdom of universe.

2.     Practice Present Moment Consciousness – Someone has wisely said “ Past is history, future is mystery and PRESENT is gift to us”. Once we understand this fact from the bottom of our heart, we come to realize that pains from past and fear from future is worthless and pure wastage of energy.  Our future is what we do and how we do in the present.

3.     Unlimited Gratitude and Unconditional Forgiveness .  Gratitude and forgiveness are the foundation stones of  positive thinking. Since past cannot be changed, forgiveness is the only option available to us. If we do not take this option, the only one who is harmed  is us, emotionally, socially and physically. Once we start forgiving everyone, unconditionally, the objective mind sees the reality. The reality that in the past everyone has contributed to our betterment and growth. Some have given us good moments and others have given us learning.

Once this thought is crystal clear to our mind it starts expressing gratitude to others. The universe returns what we give to the universe.  Our sense of gratitude is returned in form of gratitude from others. It ultimately results in harmony, vitality, growth and development on a constructive plane. Now everyone, contributing   and accepting to everyone’s development.  This is the ultimate goal of human life. Creating and growing  together, effortlessly, in harmony and peace.

The Multiverse, Human Purpose, and a Balanced Way of Life

Humans by virtue of their communication skills, intelligence and technological advancements, consider themselves to be at the top of the food chain, claiming the first right over nature’s resources. The privileged humans are consuming the natural resources of Earth at an unprecedented rate. Humanity is also ready with its scientific toys to go beyond Earth to maximise its consumption pleasure. To quench this thirst of pleasure, privilege and comforts, humans have little concern for other ecosystems like flora and fauna. The idea of a multiverse, an infinite array of parallel universes, each with its own distinct laws, realities, and possibilities, is a big threat to the ambitions and actions of the human race. This evolving framework of humans not at the centre of things but impacting the whole in unimaginable ways,  invites profound questions about humanity's role, the multiplicity of pathways available to individuals, and the sense of purpose that drives action. When viewed throu...

Living in Paradox

Life is essentially a paradox as it happen in possibilities. Change, instability and uncertainty are its essential features. Anyone looking for stability and certainty is living in fool’s paradise  Modern physics in general and quantum physics in particular has increasingly validated this finding of ancient Eastern Yogis. Now there is sufficient scientific evidence to prove that the systematic and mechanical view of world as given by Newtonian Physics is grossly limited at both sub atomic and cosmic levels.  This change in understanding is essential to re calibrate our knowledge about how ecosystems works and they organize themselves. It calls for a sea change in our conceptual understanding that integrates three dimensions of life - biological, cognitive and social  Life is aliveness. Most of the things that we encounter in our environment are alive. Everything vibrates. The only difference lies in the rate of vibration. Life is essentially a network of i...
